No problem STP, I would never forget that tragic day, I was their. I agree with your take and 200 has no place in racing except for time trials like the Bonneville Salt Flats.
Hi STP43fan, we are on the same page, in that I don't hold F1 racing as better than NASCAR racing. I feel a bit qualified to have that opinion now that I've watched three F1 races. It's definitely fun and interesting, and way different than NASCAR. But in terms of out right racing action, NASCAR has F1 by a mile.
The problem is the perception about NASCAR. Saying they throw too many yellows is a bit problematic, because any racing series throws at least some amount of necessary yellows, but the perception that NASCAR manipulates and controls races by throwing yellows is a very sticky issue.
I'm totally unimpressed with the yellow with 8 laps to go on Talladega. It was total crap. So, what do I say to this guy? I can't defend NASCAR. Of course, F1 isn't without it's controversies either. But I'm not interested in defending or accusing F1.
My heart is in NASCAR and it really bothers me that they dominate the racing with so much control, as your examples in your blog well documented.
Again, that was an excellent blog. Very well written, documented and presented. I enjoyed reading it as much as I feel dismayed at this problem. NASCAR really is killing itself with this manipulative rule mongering.
Where is Stafford Speedway? Sounds fun. Finally made it to YouGabSports and made a profile. Not sure how I like it yet. I'm the only one with a NASCAR avatar. Looks funny. =)
